DESCRIPTION:SANTA ZEPHYR EXPRESS RETURNS FOR THE 5th YEAR!\nCity of Macomb Downtown Development announces the return of the Santa’s Zephyr Express\, brought to you by Macomb Downtown Development\, Amtrak\, and the Quincy Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. On Friday\, December 2\, 2022\, Santa will be riding the Zephyr from Quincy to Macomb\, leaving Quincy at 5:30PM and arriving in Macomb at approximately 6:17PM. Santa and his helpers will be serving complimentary refreshments and handing out a special gift\, including a golden bell. Tickets for the specially decorated train cars must be purchased online at https://bit.ly/Santazephyr2022 and will be on sale starting Wednesday\, November 2\, 2022 at 8:00AM until sold out. Tickets are $35 each and riders will be acknowledged with a special “golden ticket”. Upon arrival at the Macomb Train Station\, Santa will disembark and head directly to his cabin on the north side of the square to visit with children from 6:30PM-8:30PM.\n\n“The excitement for Santa’s Zephyr Express has been tremendous. This train sells out quick\, I encourage individuals to act fast.\,” stated Kristin Terry\, Downtown Development Director with the City of Macomb. “This is a tremendous economic boost to Macomb\, as several out-of-town folks purchase tickets for the train. This means that there will be many out-of-town visitors in Macomb that evening that will be looking for shopping\, dining opportunities and enjoying our Dickens on the Square event.”\, stated Terry.

DESCRIPTION:Since its founding in 1983 by Michael Levine\, the Dallas Brass has become one of America’s foremost musical ensembles. The group has established a unique blend of traditional brass instruments with a full complement of drums and percussion\, which creates a performing entity of extraordinary range and musical challenges. The Dallas Brass repertoire includes classical masterpieces\, Dixieland\, swing\, Broadway\, Hollywood and patriotic music. According to Mr. Levine\, “a Dallas Brass concert is intended for the entire family. Our ideal audience has a range in ages from 5 to 95. Our goal is to entertain and enrich by playing great music\, while showing our audience how much we enjoy what we do.” In addition to their solo engagements\, the Dallas Brass appears with symphony orchestras nationwide. Symphonic credits include the Cincinnati Pops conducted by Erich Kunzel\, New York Pops conducted by Skitch Henderson\, and the Philly Pops conducted by Peter Nero. The Dallas Brass has performed at Carnegie Hall\, the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington\, DC\, and has toured overseas to Europe and the Far East. They have shared the stage with the late Bob Hope\, have performed for Presidents Gerald Ford and George H. W. Bush\, have appeared on the CBS “Early Show\,” and their music has been used numerous times on the television show\, “The Young & The Restless.” The ensemble has released six recordings: Debut\, Dallas Brass II\, A Merry Christmas with Brass\, Windborne\, Nutcracker and American Musical Journey. The Dallas Brass has a strong dedication to working with young musicians\, frequently going into the public schools to present clinics and workshops for students of all ages.

DESCRIPTION:BOWL FOR KIDS’ SAKE is a bowl-a-thon in which participants PRE-COLLECT donations and bowl a game to benefit children throughout the region who need a mentor and a Big Brother or Big Sister! We are hosting a one-day event at Digger’s College City Bowl in Macomb on Saturday\, November 5th. BFKS is our largest team fundraiser and a nationally-recognized Big Brothers Big Sisters event. Bowl for Kids’ Sake is a fun and easy way for community members to support the life-changing work of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Our fundraising goal for 2022 is $25\,000. We can achieve this goal\, but not without your help! You can start the pace of giving with your own personal tax-deductible contribution\, and then continue by collecting as many donations as possible for each team member. A minimum of $300 per team (5/6 players) must be raised in order to participate in our Team Bowl! If a team reaches the minimum amount\, each team member will receive an event t-shirt\, one-hour bowling\, prizes and give a ways! Let’s get started! 1. Appoint a Team Captain. 2. Invite friends to participate. 3. Complete and submit your Team Registration form\, securing your time slot of 10:30 AM\, or 1:30 PM on Nov 5th (Space is limited–don’t wait to register!). 4. The fire station is located just west of Macomb\, Illinois at 3041 West Adams Road. The Pancake and Sausage Breakfast is a major fund raiser for the Emmet – Chalmers Firefighters. The money raised will be used to buy needed equipment and support firefighter training.

DESCRIPTION:WIU Old Stompin’ Ground Runaround 5K Fun Run and 1.5 Mile Walk \nOur in-person race will once again include chip timing technology with live results streamed online and displayed near the finish line. All participants will receive a commemorative Old Stompin’ Ground Runaround moisture wicking/dry fit t-shirt. Shower facilities are available at the WIU Spencer Student Recreation Center with a valid ID. Come home and run/walk with us down memory lane! \n\nAwards will be given to overall winner\, overall male and female winners. Race begins at 8 a.m. at the Alumni House. \nRegistration is $20/person and includes a dry fit t-shirt. When ordering your t-shirt\, we would recommend sizing down one size. If you register the day of the race\, the entry fee is $20/person and shirts will be available as supplies last.

Registration will take place at the Alumni House. 4 p.m. Ribbon Cutting and Dedication of the Dr. Frank Lupton Pavilion\, Horn Field Campus (rain or shine) 5-9 p.m. All-Alumni Social\, Alumni House (Complimentary food\, beer\, wine and soda; cash bar available) Saturday\, October 22\, 2022 7-7:45 a.m. Old Stompin’ Ground Runaround Registration\, Alumni House 8 a.m. Old Stompin’ Ground Runaround: 5K Run/1.5 mile walk 8:30 a.m. Reunion Recognition Brunch & Social\, Alumni House 9:30 a.m. All-Alumni Breakfast\, Alumni House (Complimentary coffee and donuts) 10:30 a.m. Homecoming Parade – Watch from the Alumni House & Gwendolyn Brooks Memorial Park next door Noon-3 p.m. Alumni Cookout at “The Right Place” tent – in Q LOT (Menu: Hot dogs and hamburgers\, veggie burgers\, potato chips\, bottled water\, canned soda and coffee.) 3 p.m. Leathernecks Football Game vs. Youngstown State – Hanson Field Tickets will not be mailed. The Homecoming football ticket sales are final. Therefore\, all tickets purchased through the WIU Alumni Association are non-refundable. **If you order mums\, t-shirts\, football tickets and/or lunch tickets\, you can pick them up at the Alumni House any time on Friday and until 11:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. After 11:30 a.m. on Saturday\, tickets/mums/t-shirts will be taken down to The Right Place tent\, which is in Q Lot. You can pick up your items there. Any football tickets not picked up by 3:00 p.m. (game time) on Saturday will be left at the will call window at the stadium.
