DESCRIPTION:SANTA ZEPHYR EXPRESS RETURNS FOR THE 5th YEAR!\nCity of Macomb Downtown Development announces the return of the Santa’s Zephyr Express\, brought to you by Macomb Downtown Development\, Amtrak\, and the Quincy Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. On Friday\, December 2\, 2022\, Santa will be riding the Zephyr from Quincy to Macomb\, leaving Quincy at 5:30PM and arriving in Macomb at approximately 6:17PM. Santa and his helpers will be serving complimentary refreshments and handing out a special gift\, including a golden bell. Tickets for the specially decorated train cars must be purchased online at https://bit.ly/Santazephyr2022 and will be on sale starting Wednesday\, November 2\, 2022 at 8:00AM until sold out. Tickets are $35 each and riders will be acknowledged with a special “golden ticket”. Upon arrival at the Macomb Train Station\, Santa will disembark and head directly to his cabin on the north side of the square to visit with children from 6:30PM-8:30PM.\n\n“The excitement for Santa’s Zephyr Express has been tremendous. This train sells out quick\, I encourage individuals to act fast.\,” stated Kristin Terry\, Downtown Development Director with the City of Macomb. “This is a tremendous economic boost to Macomb\, as several out-of-town folks purchase tickets for the train. This means that there will be many out-of-town visitors in Macomb that evening that will be looking for shopping\, dining opportunities and enjoying our Dickens on the Square event.”\, stated Terry.

DESCRIPTION:Since its founding in 1983 by Michael Levine\, the Dallas Brass has become one of America’s foremost musical ensembles. The group has established a unique blend of traditional brass instruments with a full complement of drums and percussion\, which creates a performing entity of extraordinary range and musical challenges. The Dallas Brass repertoire includes classical masterpieces\, Dixieland\, swing\, Broadway\, Hollywood and patriotic music. According to Mr. Levine\, “a Dallas Brass concert is intended for the entire family. Our ideal audience has a range in ages from 5 to 95. Our goal is to entertain and enrich by playing great music\, while showing our audience how much we enjoy what we do.” In addition to their solo engagements\, the Dallas Brass appears with symphony orchestras nationwide. Symphonic credits include the Cincinnati Pops conducted by Erich Kunzel\, New York Pops conducted by Skitch Henderson\, and the Philly Pops conducted by Peter Nero. The Dallas Brass has performed at Carnegie Hall\, the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington\, DC\, and has toured overseas to Europe and the Far East. They have shared the stage with the late Bob Hope\, have performed for Presidents Gerald Ford and George H. W. Bush\, have appeared on the CBS “Early Show\,” and their music has been used numerous times on the television show\, “The Young & The Restless.” The ensemble has released six recordings: Debut\, Dallas Brass II\, A Merry Christmas with Brass\, Windborne\, Nutcracker and American Musical Journey. The Dallas Brass has a strong dedication to working with young musicians\, frequently going into the public schools to present clinics and workshops for students of all ages.

DESCRIPTION:BOWL FOR KIDS’ SAKE is a bowl-a-thon in which participants PRE-COLLECT donations and bowl a game to benefit children throughout the region who need a mentor and a Big Brother or Big Sister! We are hosting a one-day event at Digger’s College City Bowl in Macomb on Saturday\, November 5th. BFKS is our largest team fundraiser and a nationally-recognized Big Brothers Big Sisters event. Bowl for Kids’ Sake is a fun and easy way for community members to support the life-changing work of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Our fundraising goal for 2022 is $25\,000. We can achieve this goal\, but not without your help! You can start the pace of giving with your own personal tax-deductible contribution\, and then continue by collecting as many donations as possible for each team member. A minimum of $300 per team (5/6 players) must be raised in order to participate in our Team Bowl! If a team reaches the minimum amount\, each team member will receive an event t-shirt\, one-hour bowling\, prizes and give a ways! Let’s get started! 1. Appoint a Team Captain. 2. Invite friends to participate. 3. Complete and submit your Team Registration form\, securing your time slot of 10:30 AM\, or 1:30 PM on Nov 5th (Space is limited–don’t wait to register!). 4. After 11:30 a.m. on Saturday\, tickets/mums/t-shirts will be taken down to The Right Place tent\, which is in Q Lot. You can pick up your items there. Any football tickets not picked up by 3:00 p.m. (game time) on Saturday will be left at the will call window at the stadium. Trails End Concessions will be joining us with their awesome smoothies\, coffee drinks\, funnel cakes\, veggie burgers\, appetizers\, and various meat sandwiches made with local meat from C&N Farms! King Neptune will be providing live music for all of you who want to boogie down and really have a good time. Hickry Ridge Homestead is coming and will be doing spinning demonstrations\, so you can see how our alpaca fiber is spun into yarn! Z’s Woodworking will have their handmade puzzles & more. Courtois’ Creations will be bringing a selection of their items\, they are a comfy everyday fashion boutique with affordable accessories\, gifts\, and clothing in sizes small-3X! Stay tuned to see if Quesal Puppet Troupe and Lake Hill Winery will be joining us!\nCups of grain to hand feed the alpacas with will be available for $4/cup (cash only). We’ll also have tables set up with our alpaca products for sale. Fishing is allowed\, bring your own pole (we don’t have any available). The beach has toys for kids to play with\, this is a family friendly environment.\nNo pets\, no smoking\, and no chasing the alpacas. Please be kind and respectful to others. An outhouse is available on the other side of the farm\, unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible. Hand wipes and disinfectant wipes are available\, there is no hand sink. There is soap and a cold water hose available near the grain bin and girls’ barn area.\n**Please note\, this is not a petting zoo. Alpacas are similar to a timid cat\, they like to get to know you on their own terms. If you insist on trying to pet them before you’ve earned their trust\, they will walk or run away from you – the more you insist\, the more they will retreat. Be patient\, and let them come up to you on their own for the best experience. Hand feeding grain always helps with the introduction\, and will entice them to come up to you.\nFree admission for all of our 2022 Alpaca Beach Parties! Twelve divisions including Junior\, Pee Wee and Novice.\nIllinois State Contest\, October 15th – National Contest\, October 16th\nRegistration at 8 am contests starts at 9 am.\nIllinois Membership is required to pick in the classes to qualify for the national cornhusking contest.\nIllinois Membership is $3 for youth and $15 for all adult classes.\nFREE ADMISSION FOR ALL SPECTATORS!!\nTop three contestants in each class qualify for the national contest.\nNational – Class – Age – Length\nGirls – Youth – 10 through 14 – 10 minutes\nBoys – Youth – 15 through 20 – 10 minutes\nWomen – 21 through 49 – 20 minutes\nMen – 21 through 49 – 20 minutes\nWomen – 50 and Up – 20 minutes\nMen – 50 and Up – 20 minutes\nSenior Women – 75 and Up – 10 minutes\nSenior Men – 75 and Up – 10 minutes\nWomen’s Open – Any Age – 20 minutes\nMen’s Open – Any Age – 30 minutes\nIllinois Pee Wee Contest\n12:30 pm.
