DESCRIPTION:Come out to Little Creek Alpacas Sat.\, Sept. 23rd & Sun.\, Sept. 24th from 1pm-5pm for our National Alpaca Farm Days celebration!\n30+ alpacas roaming in a free range setting with a 2 acre pond and small white sand beach. Tacos and Thai food truck will be here with all their tasty menu items\, so come hungry! Lake Hill Winery will be joining us with all your favorite local wines to taste\, sip\, and enjoy – including their Life’s A Beach Alpaca wine. Hickry Ridge Homestead is coming and will be doing spinning demonstrations\, so you can see how our alpaca fiber is spun into yarn! She’ll also be doing drop spindle lessons around 3pm. A Tangled Mess Angoras & Crafts will be here with her adorable angora rabbits. She’ll have a felt station set up where you can make a needle felted picture for just $10 (ages 8 & older)! Quesal Puppet Troupe will be performing a special puppet show around 1:30pm both days\, and on Sunday we’ll have live music by Carol Jean and Jera from 2:30pm-5pm! Stay tuned to see what other vendors and fiber demonstrations we’ll have.\nCups of grain to hand feed the alpacas with will be available for $5/cup. We’ll also have tables set up with our alpaca products for sale. Fishing is allowed\, our pond is stocked with mostly bass\, but there are a few catfish in there somewhere. Bring your own fishing pole\, we don’t have any available. The beach has toys for kids to play with\, this is a family friendly environment.\nNo pets\, no smoking\, and no chasing the alpacas. Please be kind and respectful to others. We’ll have a handicap accessible porta-potty. Hand wipes and disinfectant wipes are available\, there is no hand sink.\n**Please note\, this is not a petting zoo. Alpacas are similar to a timid cat\, they like to get to know you on their own terms. If you insist on trying to pet them before you’ve earned their trust\, they will walk or run away from you – the more you insist\, the more they will retreat. Be patient\, and let them come up to you on their own for the best experience. Hand feeding grain always helps with the introduction\, and will entice them to come up to you.\nFree admission for all of our 2023 Alpaca Beach Parties! A great way to take an affordable mini vacation that the kids will love! Spring Lake in Macomb\, IL also has cabins for rent if you’re not a tent camper and don’t have an RV. Spring Lake is approx. 35 minutes from our farm. Argyle Lake State Park is approx. 20-30 minutes from our farm. Paxton a well-established Chicago fine artist who is also a sixth generation West Virginian with a career that now spans fifty years. His awards include a grant from the Adolph & Esther Gottlieb Foundation\, Inc.\, New York; Illinois Arts Council Fellowship in Visual Art Award and two Professional Development Grants; Fellowships with both Air le Parc\, Project and Research Center\, Pampelonne\, France and Jentel Artist Residency Program\, Banner\, Wyoming; a Marshall University Alumni Award of Distinction; Individual Artist Program Grant\, DCASE\, Chicago; six Professional Development Grants from Columbia College\, Chicago; two CAAP Grants\, Chicago\, IL; Open Studio Residency\, Department of Cultural Affairs\, Chicago\, IL and a Purchase Prize\, fom the Chicago Federation of Labor\, Chicago\, IL. \nHe as an MFA in Drawing and Painting from The University of Georgia\, 1979 and B.A. in Art from Marshall University\, 1975; he retired from the Faculty of Columbia College Chicago in Art and Art History and Design Departments in 2021.
