DESCRIPTION:The Macomb/McDonough County Out of the Darkness Walk will raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research\, create educational programs\, advocate for public policy\, and support survivors of suicide loss. \nOnline registration closes at noon (local time) the Friday before the walk. However\, anyone who would like to participate can register in person at the walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Registration is free and open to the public. SUMMARY:South Henderson Church Cemetery Walk
DESCRIPTION:Voices from the past–a program featuring “ghosts” of the area’s early settlers and other residents of the cemetery. Program at 6:30 p.m. in the Church located four miles east of Gladstone\, IL. (1450 E/1450E/County Rd 100 N) Free will offering. Those wishing to explore the cemetery during daylight hours on Sunday\, September 30 may obtain printed guides at the Henderson County Library or on site. For more information\, contact Diana Taylor at 309-337-0899. Event sponsored by the Stronghurst Booster Club and the Henderson County Bicentennial Committee. \nThe South Henderson Church is a historic Presbyterian church located in rural Henderson County. The church was built in 1854. The vernacular building has a wood frame plan and limestone walls and used local materials in its construction\, which cost $3\,855.55. Reverend Robert Ross led the congregation when it built the 1854 church; Ross was one of the founders of Monmouth College and served on its first Board of Trustees.\nThe congregation’s cemetery is located east of the church; an unpaved road separates the church and cemetery. An iron fence dated 1920 surrounds the cemetery. The gravestones in the cemetery are generally well-maintained\, and some of the oldest ones mark the graves of Revolutionary War veterans. \nSouth Henderson\, now part of the United Presbyterian Church\, disorganized in 1954\, and the Old South Henderson Cemetery Association now cares for the site. The church and cemetery were added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 14\, 1976.

DESCRIPTION:Take a Run with Us Down Memory Lane! \nYour Western Illinois University Alumni Association is pleased to announce the following exciting changes to the 2018 Homecoming Old Stompin’ Ground Runaround 5K Run and 1.5 Mile Walk on Sept. 29! \nThis year’s race will include chip timing technology with live results streamed online and displayed near the finish line. Finisher photos will also be available. All participants will receive a commemorative Old Stompin’ Ground Runaround moisture wicking/dry fit t-shirt. Complimentary stretching by sports therapists before and after the race. Come home and run/walk with us down memory lane! \n\nWith chip timing\, each participant’s race time starts when crossing the start line. Awards will be given to overall male and female winners\, and in male and female age divisions. Race begins at 8 a.m. at the Alumni House. \nAge divisions: 15 & under\, 16-22\, 23-29\, 30-39\, 40-49\, 50-59 and 60 and over. \nRegistration on or before Friday\, Sept. 28 for the Old Stompin’ Ground Runaround is $15/person and includes a dry fit t-shirt. If you register the day of the race\, the entry fee is $20/person and a shirts will be available as supplies last.
