DESCRIPTION:The Western Illinois University Department of Art and Design will have their annual Juried Student Exhibition on display April 9 through May 3 at the Western Illinois University Art Gallery.\nA reception for the artists will be held Tuesday\, April 9 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. Awards will be announced and the Juror will speak at 5:00. \nExhibiting Artists:\nRivers Ashton\, Brooke Baker\, Madison Beck\, Molly Borth\, Agatha Carbonell Garcia\, Alexis Danner-Clark\, Ashley Derry\, Delaney Egan\, Abigail Ehrenberger\, Venessa Ellis\, Leslie Eutsler\, Carolyn Foster\, Ashley Garlick\, Conor Geigner\, Mary Hammond\, David Hernandez\, Brent Hopkins\, Sadiq Jimoh\, Grace Lessen\, Maggie Long\, Francesca Magalang\, Bailey McKean\, Kieara Morey\, Michelle Narvaez\, Avery Pearson\, Julia Riley\, Stephen Tan\, Cora Wolford \nJuror: Samantha Haring\nSamantha Haring is an artist and educator from Des Plaines\, Illinois. Haring earned her MFA from Northern Illinois University and her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. They spent a summer in Italy at the International School of Drawing\, Painting\, and Sculpture; it was there that they fully developed their commitment to light\, color\, and observational painting. Haring was one of the 2015-16 Artists-in-Residence at Manifest Gallery. She teaches drawing and design courses in the School of Design at the University of Cincinnati\, and she has been a Resident Instructor at Manifest Drawing Center since 2016. Haring’s work is published in issues #119 and #123 of New American Paintings\, as well as in several recent Manifest INDA and INPA publications. They are represented by Gallery 19 in Chicago. Her studio practice is currently based in Cincinnati\, where she spends an inordinate amount of time staring at the color of dust.
