DESCRIPTION:Western Horn Festival 2019 with Gail Williams Sunday\, April 7 (9 am-5 pm) \nThe WIU School of Music and the WIU Horn Studio present the 2019 Western Horn Festival with guest artist\, Gail Williams. Ms. Williams is the professor of horn at Northwestern University and retired from her position as associate principal horn of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. \nJoin us at the COFAC recital hall for a day of performances\, masterclasses\, and ensemble reading. SUMMARY:Community Youth Art Program: Animals in Action!
DESCRIPTION:The Western Illinois University Community Art Program will be presented on Sundays from March 24 – April 14 at the West Central Illinois Arts Center and in Garwood Hall on the WIU campus. The free program is for students in first through eighth grades. Classes will be held from 1 – 2:30 p.m. and from 3 – 4:30 p.m. \nThird and fourth grade: Through creating sculptures\, students will explore what animals do\, how they move and where they live. Over the course of four class sessions\, students will design an animal (real or imagined) out of recyclable materials\, learn a plaster wrapping technique to strengthen their sculpture\, use painting techniques to fabricate the texture of the creature and construct their animal’s habitat (real or imagined). \nTo pre-register for the class\, contact Sarah Warner at SM-Warner@wiu.edu.

Each month we’ll invite a few community members to share a poem or two before inviting guests to read a selection of their choice. Held the first Sunday on the month at 2:00 pm. Doors open and pie served at 1:30 pm.\n\nCelebrate Women’s History Month with the power of poetry on Sunday\, March 3rd. \nKick off national poetry month on Sunday\, April 5th. \nSunday\, May 7th we take on the topic of “change” –open to interpretation!
