County Research
In Illinois, the State Archives administers the Illinois Regional Archives Depository (IRAD) system to manage the archival records of county, township and municipal governments. The state is divided into sections, and each section has a regional depository. McDonough County records are housed at the IRAD located in the Archives and Special Collections Unit of the Library at Western Illinois University in Macomb. In addition to IRAD records, the WIU Archives has a large collection of resource materials for western Illinois researchers. For more information on visiting the IRAD depository, requesting a search, records available and fees, please see the following link:Illinois Regional Archives Depository, Library, Western Illinois Univ., Macomb
