| Macomb has a Mayor-City Administrator government
system, with aldermen elected from seven city wards.
The Macomb Police Department shares a new facility with the
McDonough County Sheriff's Department. The Macomb Fire Department
is located in the same block.
Macomb is the county seat of McDonough County. The County Courthouse
is the focal point of Macomb's downtown. The courthouse was built
in 1872. Renovations in 1978-79 returned the courthouse to the original
stone and brick exterior.
